Christie Vanover
Christie Vanover is a pitmaster, recipe developer, food photographer, award-winning writer and graphic designer, and the founder of Girls Can Grill. Her motto is: “If it can be cooked in the kitchen, it can be cooked outdoors.” She has over 20 outdoor cooking devices, including fire pits, gas grills, ugly drums, pellet smokers and ceramic cookers.
She has been competing in the sport of food since 2012, with three bouts at the World Food Championships. In 2016, she became a Kansas City Barbeque Society certified barbecue judge and started competing on the barbecue circuit, earning her first grand championship in just two years.
Through Team Girls Can Grill and her website, she teaches women and guys how to manage fire to turn out mouthwatering barbecue. She grills a few cupcakes every now and then, too. Christie has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, Hearth & Home, Tailgater Magazine and USA Today. She has worked with many of the brand leaders in the meat and grilling industry, including Certified Angus Beef® brand, Smithfield, the National Pork Board, the National Cattleman’s Beef Association, Weber, Char-Broil, Lodge Cast Iron, Camp Chef, Rockwood Charcoal and many more.
She’s lived all over the world, but currently calls Las Vegas home. She’s a park ranger by day and loves to glamp in her RV at America’s national parks.
